Kobo Forma - Wow!

I've had a Sony eReader, a Nook, a Kindle PaperWhite, then a Kobo Clara HD. I tried a Kobo Libra H2O a while ago but rejected it because the front light was uneven in strength and colour. Yesterday I bought a Kobo Forma. I had read mixed reviews, including some which mentioned uneven lighting, but I figured I'd give it a try and send it back if I was unhappy with it.

Wow! I am so pleased with it! The lighting is lovely and even, the screen so crisp and the device is really light and thin. It is so much bigger than the Clara HD and consequently more comfortable to read on.

I bought it from John Lewis in the UK for £199 and it comes with a 2 year warranty.

I know the Forma has been out for a while, but I really can't think how a replacement could be any better.

I wonder if they're upgrading the internals? Mine has the uneven lighting. How's the power button? Mine is sort of dodgy; hard to tell if I've pressed it or not. But otherwise, yeah, it's an amazing device, especially compared to the Kindle Oasis which I had been using.

I dislike using sleepcovers or cases but I had to buy one for my Forma. That power button is absolutely the worst. In fact, because I've had to apply so much pressure sometimes to turn it off / on, the side paneling next to it has some audible creaking when I push near it. So, so dumb.

I struck gold with the lighting, it's more even than any other device I have used and I really wasn't expecting that. The power button is an issue - I've found pressing it and waiting works without needing to push too hard. I'm looking at sleep covers - any recommendations?

The Kobo Forma cover is top notch in my opinion. But it's the only one I bought so I have no idea if any others also put it to sleep.

I have also recently bought a Kobo Forma. I too had luck with the lightning it is completely even. The power button is not so bad but I bought a sleep case anyway.
II bought this one.
The case is very good. The link is to Amazon DE. But you may be able to find it somewhere else.

It is cheaper than the Kobo original. I don't need the ability to stand on a table, and according to pictures I have seen the Kobo case has IMO a rather agressive imprint on the case.

The UI on the Kobo is amazing compared to any Kindle.

Or, as I often say, the UI on the Kindle is amazing considering how it's hardly changed after so many years, and using a Kobo shows you what it could be.
