Sony Reader and Adobe DE Re-authorisation

Hello:

I have a sony reader which I have already authorised to read Adobe Digital Editions DRM content.

However, I need to now change the e-mail address which I used to set up my Adobe account and because of Adobe's idiotic policy of tying e-mail address to username, it appears that this will require me to completely change my account.

Can anyone tell me how to re-authorise my sony reader - or if it is possible to authorise the sony reader to more than one adobe account? Is there any way to switch eDocs already purchased over to the account with my new e-mail?

Thanks so much for your advice.

Cheers,

David

Adobe makes it sound easy to do (Adobe ID and Membership FAQ):

My e-mail address has changed. How do I update my membership?

Sign in, select Account Details, and click the Change button next to your e-mail address. Once you have entered the new e-mail address click the Update button to save your changes.
Did you try this? My impression is that the ID isn't actually your e-mail address, you just need the e-mail address to access the account.
