Kindle DXG Collections issue.
I have a Kindle DX, that I've had for almost 7 years. I always set it up using "sort by collections" During this time the book I'm currently reading and the collection its in have always been on the first page. Change books/collection and whatever book/collection I've opened then positions itself in the first slot and moves the rest down. Open 5-6 collections and then open a book and those collections are all on the first page with the most recent collection on top.
A few weeks ago and for no apparent reason it stopped doing that and the book I'm reading has decided to show up on page 4 or 5 in some seemingly random position so I have to go hunt it down from within my collections and find it again. I've tried having it sort by "Most Recent" but it takes all the books out their respective collections and I have 27 pages of books. I've tried a hard reset but I don't want to wipe it and reinstall everything as its a real PITA on these older ones re-creating collections and moving books around. Its top out at Kindle 2.5.8 and since I didnt get the whispernet at my house it rarely connected to the new or the store. As I'm typing this the thought came up that maybe something in Calibre changed this but since Ive never used Calibre so sort collections (is it even possible on these old ones?) I dont have a clue to where to look. Any thoughts would be great. |

One possibility is that the internal clock on the device has gotten out of sync with reality. That might happen if it hasn’t been able to connect for a long time.

Is it possible that the sort order within the collections has been changed to author or title? When you're in the library view, set it to sort by collections. Then open a collection and set that to sort by recent.

Ive asked a question over in Calibre to see if there is a setting somewhere I may have activated. Last edited by Jack Torrance; 09-17-2021 at 04:39 PM. |

1. When viewing the library. Your options here are Recent/Title/Author/Collection. Choose "Collection". 2. When you have a collection open. Your options here are Recent/Title/Author. Choose "Recent". Are you sure you have the second one set correctly? There is no setting in Calibre that can affect the sorting of books that are side loaded to the Kindle. |

I see what your saying. I've always viewed my Library by "Collections", In my case all my collections are by Author. As an example I'll have "Stephen King - The Dark Tower" and it will show the number of books in that individual collection I'll also have "Stephen King" as a separate collection with an assortment of individual books and whichever collection I had opened last would show on the first slot of the main library page. So now if I open the "Stephen King - The Dark Tower" and then hit the home button that Collection moves itself off the front page and on to page 4 or 5 (out of 6). Honestly I hadn't noticed the second setting within the actual collections before but my issue is the primary "Collections" setting in the main menu as it used to show the most recent collection that had been opened on the front page. |

Filter = none and Sort = Collections puts collections in alpha order followed by uncollected books in recency order. I know you're on an older version of firmware, does it have the Filter option? |

If I go within a "Collection" they can be filtered by "most recent", "Title" or "Author". Not a lot of choices and whats really weird is that it picks mid page of page 4 out of 6 to open it. I have a feeling I'm going to have to wipe it, redo the screen hack and reload everything one by one...Not something I really want to do unless I want to kill a few hours. |
