Conversion to pdb getting error message

I use a Palm T|X as a reader, and up til recently have had no problem converting files. One thing I often do is create a "book" with about 30 html files, collated with an html index file. I convert these to MOBI and to PDB for two different devices. I get no error on the MOBI, but today, for the first time, I have gotten an error on the PDB conversion. The only changes I make from the default are to Transliterate unicode, linearize tables, and select eReader for the PDB format, because I use Palm eReader to view the documents. As I said, til now I have no problem with the conversions. I even tried using an older version of Calibre to see if that fixed the problem, but I get the same error. Below is the readout detail for the error. And this is done on Windows 10.

If I change the format from eReader to Doc, it works, so it seems to be something about eReader.

Create a docx. Make sure headings, styles and human Contents with links is OK.
Import to Calibre
Convert to an epub2.

Word or LO Writer can manage copy & pasted HTML from browser, or to an extent directly. I save in odt with Writer and create an extra Save As in docx. I used various versions of Word from 1992 to 2014.

Do all other conversions from the epub.
I've never ever had a problem with mobi, dual mobi, azw3, either kind of pdb or lrf on Calibre.

I don't use Calibre for PDFs, though I tested PDF creation.

There are indeed two incompatible versions of pdb. One of my Palm Z22 programs can only read one and the Mobipocket reader can read either, but not actual mobi files.

What is "Palm ereader"? Both the ebook apps on my Palm, Mobi and the other one were downloaded from an obsolete programs site for ancient HW. It's not much fun reading on the 160 x 160 pixel screen with either.

Update calibre.

I tried both suggestions. I used Word to create a new document. Still the conversion error.

I tried converting to epub, and then converting epub to pdb. Error.

I tried updating Calibre. Error.

I only get the error if I select the ereader/pdb, not if I select doc/pdb.

I think I'll give up and just use the Mobi format. I have a Palm Mobi reader on my T|X so it'll do.

Make sure headings, styles and human Contents with links is OK. Import to Calibre Convert to an epub2. Word or LO Writer can manage copy & pasted HTML from browser, or to an extent directly. I save in odt with Writer and create an extra Save As in docx. I used various versions of Word from 1992 to 2014. Do all other conversions from the epub. I've never ever had a problem with mobi, dual mobi, azw3, either kind of pdb or lrf on Calibre. I don't use Calibre for PDFs, though I tested PDF creation. There are indeed two incompatible versions of pdb. One of my Palm Z22 programs can only read one and the Mobipocket reader can read either, but not actual mobi files. What is "Palm ereader"? Both the ebook apps on my Palm, Mobi and the other one were downloaded from an obsolete programs site for ancient HW. It's not much fun reading on the 160 x 160 pixel screen with either. Still the conversion error. I tried converting to epub, and then converting epub to pdb. Error. I tried updating Calibre. Error. I only get the error if I select the ereader/pdb, not if I select doc/pdb. I think I'll give up and just use the Mobi format. I have a Palm Mobi reader on my T\|X so it'll do. Thanks for the help.
