Download to Kindle

I went to Amazon today to download a free book to my kindle, when I went to download the only choice was to "My Devices", in the past I had a number of different choices. Does anyone know why. Thanks for any replies.

Edit: I went to download another free book and the choice of "My Devices" is gone. The usual options have returned by themselves. Thanks for all info.

Amazon is dinking with stuff again. Go to Content and Devices to send to a specific device.

Lately, on the web site, the default for me has been Your Kindle Library. Which is fine with me. When I’m ready to read it, then I’ll download using the device I want to read it on.

That is usually how I do it also. I rarely go to Content & Devices on the Amazon site. Most of my books are downloaded to K4PC, then taken into Calibre, where I tweak the margins and font size, then side load to whichever Kindle I'm using at the moment.

I dislike the extra step, especially with library borrows.

You've got to go to the "More Actions" button now. Amazon has really uglified and "scatterbrained" the new menu setup. It was pretty clean.

Could you please describe how do you tweak the margins and font size, and side load to a kindle PW3 ?

I've read in other threads that the transfer via usb problem was caused by updates to various browsers and that the way round it is to enable pop-ups.
I haven't had this issue myself because it's been a while since I've updated firefox, despite (or because of) the nagging.

I've very recently downloaded freebies from Amazon without any problems at all. I still see the Transfer Via Usb. For me, Amazon doesn't seem to have changed.

@Loyd: you might want to ask that question in the Calibre part of MobileRead. You will also encounter issues with DRM. Google Apprentice Alf.

I haven't seen issues with the latest Firefox for Download and transfer via USB. OTOH, I am still seeing 200 books per page in Contents and Devices. The download issues and limited number of books being shown that others have complained about may be an American issue at this point in time.

In order to download direct from Amazon using Download and Transfer to USB, you have to allow popups or allow popups for amazon.com.
