Restore library from KOBO device?

My computer crashed and my backup of my database is unusable to to a usb failure, total disaster. I installed a new hard drive and Windows, installed Calibre, and now am looking for a way to restore my database. Is it possible to use the information/books on my Aura One to create a working database/library with the same information and dates?

If the books are sideloaded, you can add the books to calibre from the device list. Connect the device and go to the device list. Select the books, right click on them and choose the option that is something like "Add to library". This will add all the selected books using the metadata in them.

It could also be done by simple connecting the device and using the OS to copy the books to calibre or adding them via the Add books option. Or setup an auto-add directory and put the books there and let calibre handle it.

Any of these should get the books into the library with the metadata that is in the books. The only issue you might have is if you used a metadata plugboard to tweak any metada when sending it to the device. You will need to undo these changes after getting the books into the library.
