With the google book validation, it always throws errors of the file extention to be renamed to xhtml. maybe something to do with ePUB3. wish it could be handled at the time of conversion with a simple check mark.

google's book validation is stupid, there is nothing wrong with using .html as an extension. You can rename the files in bulk using the calibre edit book tool if you like. Simply select all the files right click and choose change file extension.

yep that is what i am doing . Was wondering if it could be addressed at the time of conversion.

html or xhtml is not the issue. The issue with google play books is that it wants us to follow stringent standards of creating HTMLs. Most of the readers would pass inline tags, google books throws exceptions. And then there is no way to rectify or point at those exception, accept that validation tool. Google itself will not tell whats wrong with the file and throw it back on our face.
