Unable to Set Margins on a Kobo Aura H2O on Some Kobo Plus Books

This problem was noticed on my version 1 Kobo Aura H2O with the following Kobo Plus books by Ed Lacy.

No margin adjustability:
Breathe No More My Lady
Dead End
Lead With Your Left
The Woman Aroused

Margins Ok:
The Best that Ever Did It
Enter Without Desire

I've never encountered such problems with library books or purchased epub titles. Is this a known issue with Kobo Plus, or my particular ereader? The ereader is on firmware version 4.35.20.400.

I think it depends upon the CSS of the book. I was usually able to adjust the font face on library books, but I eventually found one that wouldn't let me. I suppose the same would be true for margins. Since you're renting books from Kobo Plus and can't modify them to fix bad CSS, you're at the mercy of whoever formatted the book.

Thanks for the info. I'll read through the books with this CSS issue on an alternate device, i.e., a PC (which allows me to read rapidly in double-pane mode). Then, I'll buy the titles I want to keep permanently, and re-edit them.

I think the Kobo firmware will not override line height commands in the CSS. If a book has line height specified in the CSS, I cannot use the Aa dropdown to change the line spacing. Deleting the line height commands from the CSS brings the line spacing feature back to life. But tinkering with a book’s stylesheet can mess other things up. Always save an unaltered copy.
