Logged Out of Overdrive, Wouldn't Log Back On
Just passing this on for anyone else running into it. My wife went to search OverDrive on her new Forma for a book to read and it wouldn't give her the option. Checking Settings > OverDrive, we found that it had logged her out. When we tried to log her back in to OverDrive, it refused. It just kept cycling back to the OverDrive login screen. She could get to the library's Libby stuff just fine. But, the Forma just refused to let her sign in.
Searching around here, it looked like the only thing that fixes this is to do a Factory Reset on the device. After fighting with it for a bit, that's what we ended up doing (Settings > Device Information > Factory Reset Your Ereader. Of course, that removes all the sideloaded stuff (as well as the settings), so I'm in the process of sending everything back over and reconfiguring things for her. For me, this wouldn't be a problem. But, since this happened to her, it's not happy times. Does anyone have any idea why this happens? She was happily logged into OverDrive just a couple of days ago. Then, out of the blue, locked out of it. |

There could be any number of reasons from server issues to corrupt databases. It's too late for you now, but there are two less destructive steps you could take if something like that happens again.
1. Repair your account: Go to (More>)Settings>Device Information and tap on "Repair near the bottom on the right. I do this whenever book rentals have gotten out of sync between my Kobo and Overdrive. 2. Log out: Go to (More>)Settings>Accounts and tap on "Sign out". This will erase your current session, but, unless something has gone horribly wrong, will often leave side-loaded content intact. Just sign back into your Kobo account, and set your Overdrive, Pocket, etc. accounts back up. 3. Factory reset: This is going nuclear as you've discovered, but sometimes nothing short of this will fix the problem. Nuking everything from space just to be sure is enabling developer mode and doing a factory reset in there. It wipes your Kobo to its original firmware. (Type "devmodeon" and tap on "Go" in the Kobo's search page if you want to play around with it. You'll find it in Settings>Device Information) Last edited by Cootey; 06-23-2021 at 05:30 AM. |

I missed the Repair Account one. Next time, I'll give that a try. Thanks.
