Where would you recommend buying Onyx products in Canada (QC)?
I've heard negative things about Goodereader so that's why I'm asking. I'm interested in the Note Air but I can't afford any chargeback shenanigans given the price

I have ordered all four of my Onyx devices from this store in Germany: https://ereader.store/en/ I have found them to be very reliable and wouldn't hesitate to order from them again. |

I've used Amazon.com and Boox.com. Yeah, there is import duties but they got here. I've heard it's a gamble where Goodereader ships from anyways so you may get hit by duty regardless.

I've bought two Onyx's from the mobileread flea store, one from ebay (from a Canadian seller), and one from Goodereader (on ebay). All have been okay.
I didn't know I was buying from Goodereader. It was a seller on ebay. He did not say he was Goodereader. He also said there would be no import taxes. However, I was charged import taxes, which did not surprise me. He just orders it from a Chinese seller and sends it to you. If I had known, I would have ordered it from Booxter in Germany, or Onyx itself in China. That way, at least I would have some kind of cover. I'm not sure he would have covered it if there had been a fault. 50/50. I actually spoke to the guy on the phone as there were delivery problems, which was not his fault, though he could have informed me earlier. Would I use him again? Not, if I could find a more reputable source, but that's a tough call in Canada. I got my ereader in one peice, with import taxes, and it worked fine. Overall I was satisfied. Honestly, I would probably use him rather than a Chinese re-seller. He's a bit "fly", but I don't think he's a crook. YMMV. |

Avoid GoodeReader. They have a whole stack of my cash and I have nothing to show for it. And I'm not the only one that had their money stolen. I'm amazed that they are still in business. That's called theft in most parts of the world but in Canada it seems you can get away with duping your buyers. I know people have tried to get them to justice but to no effect.
I'd buy from Amazon if you can, then Onyx over fleabay (because then at least you can use eBay to solve issues with non appearance of goods), then our friend in Germany, and finally Onyx direct if you have to. There seems to be a new reliable seller in the UK on eBay, just have to hope you find a non drop shipping one local to you. |

If you had it in writing, I wonder if it would be possible to request a partial chargeback through your credit card for the amount in import taxes which you had to pay? If you don't think they're thieves, have a read through the comments section in this Teleread article: https://teleread.org/2018/04/29/good...g-orders-wait/ They took nearly half a million dollars Canadian from backers for their 13.3" device, and then started selling those devices from their own webstore before fulfilling their obligations to their backers. If you go to the comments section on their shuttered Indiegogo campaign page, there are still backers who have not received their promised perks even though Michael has claimed to have sold over 5000 of the devices. That certainly seems like thievery to me. Certainly unethical. |

There is a new place in Concord, Ontario They just started selling Boox e-readers recently.
They have Boox Note Air for $670 (all taxes in) and smart cover for Boox Note Air $45 e-reader.ca |

In the US, Bestbuy sells Onyx products and are acknowledged as an official reseller. But, Onyx's policy is that you need to contact the reseller to get the warranty taken care of. They only seem to honor warranties for devices bought from them directly via their website, their official amazon or ebay accounts. If you go to their help.boox.com website, it does not list any resllers. In the case of bestbuy, they specify that the device comes with 1 year manufacturer warranty. Onyx refuses to take ownership of the warranty process unless it is bought from them directly. Bestbuy's response is that the device can be bought with their own geeksquad warranty, which costs an extra $60. Onyx's warranty policy and the battery issues some Onyx devices experience have put me off from buying another Onyx device. That said, I had to send my Note pro for a repair recently because the battery was draining more than it should have in sleep mode. I originally bought it from Onyx's Amazon official account in US. While I had to pay for one way shipping and wait for about 3 weeks, the process was not problematic. I contacted onyx via their help site, they asked me to send it to an authorized repair shop in the US, and they replaced the battery without any issues. If you are concerned about warranty coverage, my suggestion would be to get it directly from Boox.com. You might get import taxes and you might have to send it to China for repairs (as I am not sure if Onyx will let you send devices to US or Europe for repairs), but you would not have to worry about warranty coverage. If you are not concerned about warranty, my suggestion would be to go with the cheapest price available. |

I believe if you an authorized distributor you should provide the warranty or Onyx should step in and cover. They provided e-reader.ca with the certificate It worth something?!

I bought my Boox Note Air from e-reader.ca Emailed them about warranty service (i have no issues at the moment) just to investigate They reply if it needs it to be fixed I would have to ship it to US service centre and pay one way for shipping They would fix it and ship it back to Canada for free. US is not too bad better that China. Way cheaper to ship.
