some technical help with Onyx Boox Chronos

Hi All, newbie here. hope you can help me (apologies if the post is in the wrong section)

I've got a Onyx Boox Chronos since 2017 and had no issues whatsoever till now. Today, after opening a pdf file from google drive the navigation buttons stopped working except while reading files and anywhere else instead open up a volume slider not allowing me to utilize any reader functionality(e.g. the library or storage folders). The touchscreen works fine however. Anyone has any idea on how to reset the buttons functionality? I don't want to factory reset the reader if possible. I'm attaching a picture to show what I mean

That's strange. I presume you've tried rebooting already?
This won't help you really, but here is an Android app that will show you scancodes and generated keys.
At least you can check whether volume up/down are really being generated.
