Bug: Spellcheck button does nothing (1.6.0)
Toolbar button which used to pop up a nice dialog showing all the spelling issues, but now does nothing at all.
Just me? |

Does using the menu work at all?
What platform are you using? |

Works for me on Windows. Both the toolbar button and the menu.
Do you have multiple monitors (or did you at one point)? |

Both work on macOS as well. Perhaps it opened up underneath the Sigil main window? Or as DiapDealer suggested off screen as it was last on another screen?

There wouldn't be an extra window on the taskbar on Windows 10, even if it was working correctly. Yours is simply saved with coordinates that are off the screen for some reason.
Open your Sigil.ini file (use Edit->Preferences and then click the "Open Preferences Location" button). Close the main Sigil Window after you have the Sigil.ini file open for editing. Find the [spellcheck_editor] section and delete the entire "geometry=" line that goes with it. Save, close, relaunch Sigil, and open the spellcheck dialog. Back up your Sigil.ini file first just in case something goes wrong. Last edited by DiapDealer; 06-15-2021 at 02:24 PM. |

Thanks very much, DD. That got it.
No idea how that happened. Last edited by IanD; 06-15-2021 at 05:06 PM. |

Who knows. With three monitors, a resolution change, or a change to Sigil's HighDPI preference setting could have been enough to throw it off. If a desktop spans multiple monitors with different resolutions, I've seen dialogs shrink (or occasionally walk right off the screen) with subsequent program launches.
Happy to help! ![]() Last edited by DiapDealer; 06-15-2021 at 06:39 PM. |
