Reader No DC?
There is this No DC thing in the upper left of the E-Book Viewer. I don't even know where to start but near as I can tell
-Appears only in the Calibre E-Book Viewer -Applies to Epub's, Mobi, Lit -Did not show up last time I used calibre a month or two ago -I have uninstalled and reinstalled Calibre's current version -The reader otherwise works completely fine, except that NO DC thing seems to be on top of anything I open in the viewer, including text and the menus, though the cursor will cover it. |

Do you have a High End video card? Many of those need extra power (cable).

Relatively, at least at the time I got the comp about two years ago, but this is a rather sudden problem to pop up if so. I've been using Calibre for at least a year and some change with this computer, and this is the first time i've seen this. Last time I used it proper was about two months ago, and this wasn't a thing at the time.

That still leaves me confused as to why it only shows up when i'm using Calibre, and even then only when i'm using the reader on Epubs/Mobi/Lit files.
I'd think issues of my comp suddenly calling for more power than it has before would be more noticeable outside of the one program. |

It will be from your graphics driver. The calibre viewer, unlike the rest of calibre uses 3D hardware acceleration for rendering.

Was not aware of that. So then I'd need to monkey around in there probably? I'll take a look and see if it does anything.

Remarkably my lack of knowledge on what to muck with has come to haunt me once more.
Graphics Card is GIGABYTE GeForce GTX 1080 from 2018, for what it's worth. For the moment I guess i'll just watch and see if next windows update undoes it. At least with what I do know how to check, Task Manager suggests it's not exactly drawing on the GPU a whole lot, so firmly in a Shrug Emoji situation right now. |

You might also want to do a search on "nvidia no dc". You'll pick up quite a few hits such as "No DC" keeps returning after fix and Suddenly NO DC overlay?. There are some suggestions in the various message threads as to possible fixes but as the first article says "keeps returning".

Yeah, updated drivers, didn't do anything. Took the calibre 5.18 update after just incase hey maybe, still no dice. Will look into the Nvidia thing since I hadn't even known that was the possible source of the problem til now.
Thank ya kindly. |

So Going to the Nvidia No DC thing worked.
Specifically the first link by DNSB, listed as Go to Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3d Settings > Restore Threaded Optimization from Custom to Auto solved the problem. Dunno why it switched since I don't muck with stuff like that, but that's probably general weird computer update stuff. Thank you very much for the help. |
