Forma Wait or Buy on Sale

I'm such a weenie. The Forma is on sale (again):

But, I saw that blurb about the possibility of a new Kobo showing up (Real Soon Now). I'd LIKE to replace my Kindles with Formas (don't NEED to, immediately). So, now I'm torn. Wait a few (possible) weeks to see if the new model is what I want or buy the current version on sale for $30 off (each). What to do? What to do?

Since you don't need a new reader right away, why not wait and see if a new reader comes out and if you don't like it, wait for another sale on the Forma.

At this point, it is unlikely the new device will be out before October. And we have absolutely no idea what it will be. A Forma update or replacement is likely as it it the oldest of the currently available devices. But, it could be anything.

Isn't the Clara a few months older than the Forma? Shame the US store didn't repeat the UK's mahoosive error on the 32GB Forma sale price.

Not the same "level" of device. Forma is more Premium, like KA1 and that's the logical next one to be updated. Since Mother's Day is just around the corner, the next one will probably announced in early August for a release at the beginning of September, like the KA1 was. It's my hypothesis based on nothing.

it looks like Kobo tends to release new models in, as you said, May (-ish) and September (-ish). May would be nice . September-ish would be less nice.

Even at $249 the forma is still a good deal, in the uk retailers generally just do a straight $ to £ conversion i.e. $249 becomes £249, that means that in $ terms the uk public are paying $344 for a device that in the us costs $96 less.

Yes Kobo's screw up with the price of the 32gb forma was massive, but as someone who is sick of being ripped off price wise in the uk it was a pleasant surprise.

Surprising it took them so long to pick up on the error; all those 32GB models suddenly shippig out to sweaty-palmed UK buyers.
