Series Title does not appear with Calibre.

Hello,
Could someone explain to me why when I load series on my Kobo Forma with calibre, the series title does not appear (ex: games of thrones - 1). I have to unplug the Kobo then plug it back in and load a book, any one, with calibre for the series to appear?
Is there any manipulation to be done with caliber in order to avoid this?

thank you

The first connection adds the book to the Forma. When you eject, the Format adds the new books to the database. The second connect lets Calibre (with Kobo Utilities plugin) see the books and add the metadata to the database for the newly added books. You do not have to add any more books for the second connection to get the metadata added as long as are set to Automatic management.

You also need to have Metadata management set to Automatic. That is found in Preferences > Import/export > Sending books to devices.

You actually don't have to upload any content on the second connection; as long as metadata management us set to automatic. (Preferences | Sending books to device | Metadata management).

Unfortunately the reason for the 2nd connection is inherent to the Kobo design. The series info is stored in the database on the device; the database entry is only created after the book has been scanned on the initial disconnection from the PC.

If You want series at first calibre connection You could install NickelSeries on Your Kobo.

How is NickelSeries going to work if there is no series info in the OPF.

The solution (IMHO) is to install NickelMenu and configure the USB option for the home screen. Then after the books are imported into the database, you can select to reconnect without having to unplug the USB cable.

As the OP is using calibre, if the series info is not in the OPF, then it is not in calibre. And if calibre has no series info...

That works fine.
