register other ebook entries with calibre

Hi there,
I have many books in logos system (logos.com). It has its own proprietary format. It is hard to manage and catalog all the books I own. I am not seeking how to convert my books out. But I'd like find a way to catalog them with Calibre where I store all my "real" ebooks, so that I know I have this book and is stored in logos.

Because logos books are NOT in individual files, how can I add entries in calibre for each book for this purpose?

You have two choices:
  • If the website gives you the ability to export book data into csv format, you can use the Import List plugin to import the data as empty books in calibre.
  • If the above is not available, and there is no way to generate a list by any other means, you are left with manually creating empty books (Add books > add empty books). You can set a custom column or an identifier to store url pointing to real book location.

No need for a custom column for the URL. The URL can be put in comments.

But you might want a Y/N column to denote if these books are from logos.com or not.

If it's online and there's a consistent URL scheme, you can make a custom identifier in Preferences > Look & Feel > Book Details > Create rules to convert identifiers into links and thus be able to click the ID in Book Details.

I've done this using the Logos desktop print/export function (found in the library menu) to produce a csv spreadsheet, trimming the spreadsheet a bit and then importing it to Calibre using the Import List plugin.
