Kindle Fire 10 and Calibre

I have Calibre installed on my Win 10 Pro Laptop. I have my Kindle connected using it's USB cord in 3.0 slot. Explorer sees the Kindle. Calibre does not. I found some answers that were posted a couple years ago but I followed them anyway. I did not find anything different on my machine. I've started Calibre a few times and it still does not see my Kindle. Help?

The problem is not that your device is not recognized, it is that the 'storage': [] line says that no storage is available making it unusable for calibre.

Storage on the Kindle.

The usual recommendations are:
  1. Try rebooting both the device and your computer
  2. If that does not work, find the files driveinfo.calibre and metadata.calibre on the device and delete them (you can use Windows Explorer or a file manager on the device itself to do this)
  3. Reset the device

You can try a Google search on 'storage': [], site:mobileread.com to see what advice is being offered.

Thanks but Calibre is more trouble than it's worth. Nothing I do is working so I'm going to delete it off my laptop. Problem solved. :-(

Sorry, your loss.
Calibre has Millions of users.

There is always speed bumps with new devices - systems.
It is not like the device makers actually talk to the makers of Calibre to have support.
Kovid (and plugin makers) are in a state of constant 'Reverse Engineering' catch up.

But in your case: YOUR device was asked for drive space /location available and it replied NONE.
That is probably Device Security being strict.
I know my Moto G needs me to set the USB connection ALLOWED every time, even though Windows does 'see' a Moto G, there is no storage/features until I go onto the device USB setting.

Manually managing your eBook collection is more hassle then it's worth.

One thing you can try is to do a save to disk and see if Windows can see the disk space on your Amazon Fire 10 (It is NOT a Kindle).
