Kindles Oasis not seeing Mobi periodical/magazine file

I have a newest generation Kindle Oasis with the latest firmware. I have downloaded a magazine using Calibre in Mobi format that used to work just fine on older units and until recently seemed to work just fine on the Oasis using a recent version of Calibre. I just sideloaded the Mobi file to the Kindles.

Today I was unable to get the Kindle to recognize the Mobi file. I tried the standard trick of restarting the Kindle, but no luck. It looks like the Oasis did standard conversions of the Mobi when I looked in the document file; but nothing showed up when I looked in the library. Oddly enough the library seemed to know there was a document to be read; because there was a number in the bottom left corner. But opening the folder did not show any documents.

I was able to convert the original file to AZW3 and was able to read that. I tended to like the way the menu structures worked for the magazine in Mobi format. To be specific I liked the ability to get a table of contents by clicking on the top part of the page

I did experiment with doing the downloads in Caibre in both EPUB and MOBI formats but that made no difference.

Any suggestions or thoughts on what may be going on?

so that it catches the attention of someone that knows about such things.

You can ask a moderator to change the title by clicking the report post [!] button to the right of the karma button at the bottom left of your post.

I would have thought someone familiar with periodicals on Kindles would have chimed in by now.

The most recent firmware I have is 5.9.6.1, so I'm not familiar with amazon's most recent UI shenanigans.

Is there maybe some filter that shows periodicals and other settings that exclude them?

There is exactly such a filter.

I'm still running 5.13.2, but I can verify that periodicals work perfectly well there.
