Version number in "Preferences" doesn't update?
After installing 5.7.1 and subsequently 5.7.2, my "Preferences" window still looks as shown in the screenshot. Is this normal?

No that indicates you are not running 5.7.2 you can see the version number at the bottom of the main calibre window as well.

EDIT: My Windows 10 definitely thinks I'm running 5.7.2, because when I double click the 5.7.2 msi just now, I get this: Last edited by Uncle Robin; 12-18-2020 at 03:46 AM. |

I chose the "Repair" option offered by the 5.7.2 msi, and after the process was completed, the version number is still 5.7.0

No clue then, sorry. In any case unless you are converting to PDF 5.7.0 is perfectly fine.

OK, there's an interesting new development. It turned out that "removing" the 5.7.2 install via the MSI and reinstalling it did change the version number to 5.7.2 - but it also removed ALL kepub plugins. By default, I convert all books to kepub before sideloading onto my Libra, which is how I noticed the absence (image 1). I reinstalled the kepub output, and restarted, all seemed fine (image 2). But after shutting Calibre down and restarting, it reverted to 5.7.0. as in image 3
I repeated the entire process, and replicated the results. This time, before shutting Calibrre down, I tried "restart in debug mode" (log attached). It restarted as 5.7.2, but again, when actually shutdown then restarted it reverts to 5.7.0 |

And this week's "Too Stupid To Live" award goes to Uncle Robin! D'Oh! I just realised that somehow I had installed Calibre 32, and that's where my problems were. You were right all along Mr Goyal, I DID have two installations. Let's see if removing 32 fixes it.

Finally fixed! And all it took was actually reading the log to realize my stupid mistake! Sorry for having troubled you.
