What in the world is "copyleft"? Is that you just making up a new word because you don't like copyright?

It's been around for decades, I think Richard Stallman coined it.

The idea is that instead of restricting certain freedoms via copyright law, the GPL uses copyright law to guarantee certain freedoms.

No, I didn't make it up. Copyleft is the practice of granting the right to freely distribute and modify intellectual property with the requirement that the same rights be preserved in derivative works created from that property.

Interesting...not a word I had ever heard before. (or if I did, I don't remember it) I've heard of the GPL, but never specifically heard it referred to as "copyleft" before.

In our questionnaire, we distinguish between strong copyleft (most restrictive) license, weak copyleft, and permissive (least restrictive) license. Please keep this in mind while filling the questionnaire.

Where would something like the BSD license fall on that? Obviously not "strong copyleft".

BSD is a permissive license. GPL, for example, is strong copyleft and LGPL is an example of a weak copyleft license.

The explanation for the questionnaire is abysmal. Also it might only be relevant for developers?

How much use is a self-selection respondent questionnaire where there is no explanation what it's for?

= What's In It For Me = Why should I fill in it? Is it e.g. cancer research...? Might of course be that this is stated in the survey itself, but as I haven't clicked on the link, I wouldn't know.
