BeBook or EZReader? Same Hanlin model?

Hi,

I just posted my introduction. I am in the market for a Hanlin V3. One thing I have a hard time to clarify is whether the BeBook and the EZReader are the same Hanlin V3 model?

BeBook claims 512MB of internal memory, which would mean they use the more recent Hanlin model called V3ext, but EZ Reader claims 32MB of memory only. So are they really selling the older Hanlin V3, although they just hit the market in the US?

Also, the Hanlin website only shows a model V3 with 32MB of memory. No trace of a 512MB model.

So what is the story here? And also, does the 512MB mean only that you can store more books in the internal memory, or does the extra capacity have another purpose, such as supporting more complex firmware or extensions in the future?

If I buy a 32MB Hanlin V3, can I still load it with a 512MB BeBook firmware?

I have also read that the Mobi support of the BeBook is still flimsy. In which way?

All(?) current V3 models have 32MB RAM and 512MB flash, be it Hanlin, lBook, BeBook or EZReader.

There are still quite a few formatting/display/usability issues - interline and interparagraph spacing can't be adjusted by the user (and are way too large for my taste), you can't use your own fonts and are stuck with Times or Arial. There also used to be problems with special characters (German umlauts etc.) - making texts containing lots of those almost unreadable. Anti-aliasing first didn't work at all, then worked badly. The latest release seems to have vastly improved the anti-aliasing and special character problems, though.

In short, it's getting there, but it's not quite there, yet.

And to answer your firmware question more generally: All firmware versions (Jinke, BeBook, lBook, EZReader, Papyre, etc.) can be used interchangeably, you can also freely downgrade from a newer to an older version.

That's it I did it. I bought the EZ Reader, since it is on offer at the moment and all things considered (shipping to Dubai, taxes, etc), it was cheaper than buying a BeBook.
