Metadata loading issue since Python 3.9 update

Hey 👋,

I run Arch Linux and it updated Python to version 3.9 two days ago. Since then I've not been able to properly read the cached metadata on my devices. On my Boox Note 2 it iterates over all books and reads them - taking a couple of minutes - but finally works. On my Galaxy Tab A, where I read and house a huge comic collection, the issue is worse though. It took around 6 hours for it to iterate over all my comics once I connected the tablet yesterday, and once it was done it didn't manage to match any comics on calibre with the comics on my device.

Removing the metadata och driveinfo for a full refresh does not fix the issue.

Unsure what information I should provide to help out with this issue, but I'm happy to help out in any way I can!

I doubt python 3.9 makes any difference, but use the calibre official binaries which come with their own python 3.8.

Alright, I'll give that a try and see if that makes any difference! 👍

Yeah, that seems to do the trick. The metadata on the device is now sadly broken though, so I'll have to re-upload the whole library to get it properly updated - I guess.
