Stopping Nickel to start another app

Hi, I am developing an application for the kobo that is intended to be launched from nickel via nickelmenu. However, as it runs, nickel draws over my app, and input seems to get taken by nickel even though my app is running. Is there a way to stop nickel to another app can run, and restart it when the app is closed, without loosing things like wifi access?

thanks, do I just launch my executable after I run those lines? Do I then have to restart those programs afterwards or will they start automatically?

Yeah, you'll have to restart them. The cleanest way is to reboot the device.
