Just bought a used Kindle dxg and needs to know how to improve best reading experienc

Hi, I just bought a used Kindle dxg and the version is 2.5.8 (serial B009).

The initial issue is my mobi book is only showing in 2/3 of the screen, I cannot find way to make it full screen.

I would like to know if I should update it to firmware to 3.4.2, or install KOreader or Duokan, hoping one of them would enhance the performance and reading experience with the DXG.

My main objective is reading manga and graphic books.

Thanks in advance!!!!

Given that it's only showing 2/3rds of the screen, then it's broken. Without a photo, here is no way to know if it's a broken screen or a problem with the screen controller.

A screenshot (Alt-Shift-G) might be useful as well.

The experts warn against ever installing Duokan. Installing 3.x can also lead to problems.

What is the source of the mobi book (commercial, who? selfmade, how?)

Hi , I updated the screenshots. If duokan and 3.x are not good, how about KOReader?

I heard one of these upgrade would improve the speed and darkness of the ink.

It looks like it could be a screen controller problem. But as far as jailbreaking goes, don't bother unless you can get the DXG to work properly.

Hi,
It looks like a problem of image size of the ebook rather than kindle DX itself.
The native resolution of a kindle DX is 824x1200 pixels.
If in "Diary of wimpy kids", the resolution of a picture is lower than this, (example:560x750) that would explain it doesn't fill the whole surface of DX but only the third of that.

The resolution can be adjusted with some tools, like Mangle tool (https://foosoft.net/projects/mangle/) but it requires time and effort.

The Comic/manga kindle conversion is a real issue.

PS: old thread for mangle DX:

It's not a resolution issue. Just look at the attachments. You'll see that the images are cut off at the same place and are incomplete. And IMHO, one way to get a better reading experience is to dump the DXG working or not. It's a very poor reading experience.

Wait there's a way to install 3.x on a DX?

I have a DX with a ton of sleep/screen saver problems. Maybe this would fix it. Is there a thread somewhere that details putting 3.X on a DX?
