Miniaturized cover when kindle converted to epub

I have encountered this in a few books sent by a friend who buys kindle books and ibooks and had thought these must have been ibook to epub conversions.

I borrowed I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and Was Shot by the Taliban ISBN: 9780316280570 from my library and it loaded (AdobeDigitalEdition for Windows pc) with a miniaturized cover. It was also available as a kindle download.

Now I'm curious. What causes the miniaturization and is it something one can fix in Edit?

If you mean the cover image that appears as the first page of the book when opened, try setting the output device to Tablet. This will prevent larger cover images from being resized to something smaller. I have all of my cover images set to 2200 x 1467 (or thereabouts) and tablet output device selected under Epub output options. My interior cover is then full size.

Yes, I mean the cover image of the book when first opened. However, I use AdobeDigitalEdition on my pc (windows7) and don't have a reading device. ADE is for epub and pdf formats, which is all I read. My friend converts her books to epub for me and it is the format I have always chosen from the library.

The cover image of the book I mentioned is postage stamp size and I was surprised to encounter it in a library book as I had thought this was a rare phenomenon possibly related to my friend converting ibooks.

It just puzzles me. I used Calibre to look at the code in edit but see nothing unusual that would explain it.

I don't suppose you found a solution as to what is causing the cover images to look like tiny thumbnails in ADE?
