Upgrade from 5.9.6 to 5.13.3 - no ;log command

Hello Community,

i upgrade my KT3 with jailbreak from 2016 (Update_jailbreak_hotfix_1.14.N_install.bin) from firmware 5.9.6 to 5.13.3. No ;log command works anymore - it do nothing.

Code:
;log
;log r
;log mrpi
I test this and this - without success.

Can i do anything to recover the ;log command and the jailbreak?

Thanks for support!

Update: The "emergency.sh" in the root USB folder will be execute and the "done_emergency.sh", "old_debug_cmds.json" and "new_debug_cmds.json" created.

After the second reboot, the ;log command don't come back.

Then it's dead, Jim.

(That JB was way too old to survive the trip, halfway or not).

@NiLuJe

I have a second KT3 with the same old firmware version to display our weather data.

How do I proceed there to keep the jailbreak?

1. Update_jailbreak_bridge_1.16.N_install.bin or hotfix?
2. Upgrade mrinstaller to 1.7.N
3. update_kindle_8th_5.13.3.bin

The bridge and hotfix packages are the exact same thing, the only thing that differenciates them is that the bridge expects to be installed via MRPI, while the hotfix via UYK.

On a sane device, I'd say go with the bridge, which means update MRPI first.

Is there a particular reason you seem to want to be running a recent FW version? (Because for something not actually using the stock system, you're only making your life harder by doing so, they're evil).

Yes, i have wifi connections issue with my new openwrt router (Linksys WRT1900AC) and my two kindles. Probably because of the linux mwlwifi driver, the fix here doesn't work for me. A newer android version fix the problem on many devices. I was hoping that a kindle firmware update would have solved this problem. But ...

BACK-TO-TOPIC

Is there no longer any hope for the device, as described in the first post? Because a shell script in the USB root of the kindle is executed successfully! If it were somehow possible to get it back, I would invest a few more hours. But if you say no chance, then I don't need to try.

It doesn't necessarily mean much, if it didn't work, then there's *probably* not much hope.

YES! IT WORKS!

Hint #1: So "emergency.sh" is executed properly and not aborted, the usb cable must be unplug from kindle when booting. Otherwise the kindle will switch directly to usb mass-storage mode and abort the shell script.

Hint #2: ;log mrpi or ;mrpi sometimes needs a second ENTER in the search bar for it to start.

--

1. Copy "emergency.sh" from restore_log_0.1.zip in the kindle root, unplug kindle, restart and restart a second. Now ";log" und ";mrpi" command will be restored in "pillow/debug_cmds.json".

2. Copy 4 Files out emergency-bridge-recovery.zip from K5 Jailbreak in the kindle root, unplug kindle, restart. Jailbreak will restored.

3. Update MR Package Installer

4. Copy "Update_jailbreak_bridge_1.16.N_install.bin" from K5 Jailbreak in the "mrpackages" folder. Type ";mrpi" in search bar then ENTER, if do nothing click to search bar and second a ENTER.

DONE!

Thx for your help!
