Calibre 5.4.1 doesn't flag availability of 5.4.2
Starting today calibre 5.4.1 x64 for the first time under Windows 10 did not informed me of the existence of the new version 5.4.2 x64 of which I knew it was there.
Manually upgrading caused no issues as far as I am aware of.

minor updates are just that...minor.

Usually bug fixes that affect a small number of people for bugs introduced in the previous update with the same number.

I did get the update notice for 5.4.2. But then, I'm still on 5.3.

I was able to grab 5.4.0 just as it was released, and it didn't notify me of either .1 or .2.

Not always so. I;ve seen some of the "minor" versions be more then just minor.

Now I'm curious what changes were made that required two minor versions. The changelog doesn't say the difference between 5.4.0 and 5.4.2.

Yes, it does. Version 5.4.2 fixes bugs in 5.4.0 that prevented calibre from starting on macOS and from choosing save file names on Windows.
