import error
I'm attempting to import a library exported from a Windows 10 Calibre V4.20 to a Raspberry Pi Calibre v3.39.1. The import finished with the following error:
calibre, version 3.39.1 ERROR: Failed: Failed to import data. Click "Show Details" for more information. Is there any way to get passed this error? Keith |

Run archlinuxarm on your pi then you will have an up-to-date version of calibre and should be able to import fine.

After looking at the install procedure for archlinuxarm on raspberry pi, I chickened out and tried Ubuntu Mate. While it is very pretty and easy to use, unfortunately, while Calibre installed, it crashed when opened.
So I tried archlinuxarm after all. While everything appeared to go smoothly on creating the sd card, it booted but then hung before getting very far. Did you go with 32 bit or 64 bit? Any chance you could point to a good step by step to creating a bootable sd catd? |

SOrry, I've never actually used it, I just know it has up-to-date versions of calibre.

Thanks David. I tried 64-bit before. I'll try 32-bit when I get a chance.

OoooK, it's been a trial, but I got ArchLinux installed on my RPi 4 and updated, LXDE installed, Calibre 5.3 installed and all books (5,540 of them) imported to a library on a USB stick.
Calibre main program works, server works, edit metadata works ... However, viewer gets the following error: calibre, version 5.3.0 ERROR: Render process crashed: The Qt WebEngine Render process has crashed. You should try restarting the viewer. And editing works in so far as editing is concerned, but it also gets essentially the same error: calibre, version 5.3.0 ERROR: Render process crashed: The Qt WebEngine Render process has crashed so Preview/Live CSS will not work. You should try restarting the editor. Any suggestions on how to proceed? |

That will be because the GPU driver on the Pi is incapable of running chromium (Qt Webengine) that both the viewer and editor use to display html.

Chromium itself works fine, except for DRMed streams.
Any other suggestions? Is there an error/log file to see? |

Disable hardware acceleration as described here https://doc.qt.io/qt-5/qtwebengine-debugging.html

Just for giggles, I installed Manjaro Linux - 64-bit on my Raspberry Pi. It is based on Arch Linux, but supposedly more stable. Calibre installed OK (v5.2. while Arch Linux was v5.3) and viewer and editor both worked fine.
However, it was slow and jerky at times, so maybe they disable GPU by default. |
