Boox 10" vs. Kindle Oasis

I just learned of Boox. I'm hoping some familiar with them can advise.

I've got an iPad and a Kindle Oasis. I love reading on my Kindle. Reading is my primary interest. I use the iPad for checking email and a couple of websites plus now and then weather etc..

Does anyone have both Boox and Kindle? How do they compare for reading? Are you satisfied with the Boox? Any suggestions or warnings? Specific Boox model(s) to look at or avoid? Thanks for any and all input.

I have 2 Kindle and 3 Boox devices.
I take the Kindle in my hand about twice a year to charge the batteries.
The Boox devices are in use.
Kindle devices are simple reader.
Boox devices are Android EInk tablets and better for reading than normal readers.

Personally, I think 10" readers are too big for pleasure reading. If I needed to use PDF'S because of my job, it would be different.

I have the second Oasis model, and it's fine, but I tend to appreciate a more narrow reading column. I also have the 2018 Paperwhite, and like it for its size. Wide columns are harder on my eye muscles, especially if I take my glasses off to read up close.

I had a Kindle DXG in 2010, and while I liked it at first, in practice it was just too large, and I sold it.

If you just want to read it doesn't matter.
Note 2 will be upgraded to the new software version 3 later.
Note Air has a different area of application (less memory / storage), but is geared towards both portrait / landscape mode.

I have all the varieties of eReader and it very much depends on what you're reading. If you're a Kindle addict, then a Boox device is not actually as mad as it seems as you just run up the Amazon Kindle app, and it works very nicely. You can also run the Kobo and Nook apps if that's your cup of java as well. And you can run Cloudlibrary and Overdrive.

So.. potentially you can actually dispose of all your other eReaders with a Boox. I read a lot of library books so I use the Forma a lot, and the Boox Note more when I am reading PDF books or anything with illustrations that comes from the library or commercially. I have a couple of Kindles but they don't get much use.

I'd advise getting anything later than the Note Pro in terms of Boox vintage, just because that was the first one with a backlight. The Note is perfectly good for pretty much all PDF files because you can crop the page to make it easy to read, there is no advantage in going to a 13.3in reader. Having 10in real estate is real pleasure, and 10in is the sweet spot in terms of size - the reason so many tablets are this size. If you fancy a current model, I'd go for the Note2, its got more battery...

Excellent avatar!! And I bet quite a few can identify with the username.

I like a fairly large page so I can read more and turn pages less. I still have my DX but it needs a new battery. I think I'm too spoiled by the lighting of my Oasis to go back to the DX even if I got a new battery.

It seems the Note Air/2 are each better than the other in about half the specs. I probably want about half reading and half Solitaire, emails, weather, timer, that sort of stuff.

I read books on my Kindle, a few genres, and really nothing else. I have a Kobo and a Nook and read maybe 1.5 times a year on each. I read 5-6 days a week on my Kindle. I'd like the 13" size when using it as an iPad substitute probably but 10" would be optimum as a Kindle replacement. I think the Nova 2 wouldn't be enough size when "tableting" on it and I prefer more reading and less page turning so maybe too small even when reading.

No, I mainly use my Android EInk devices for reading and those with a Wacom pen also for handwritten comments in books.
Android because I can choose the reading app that best suits my needs and wishes and there are books / library applications that go far beyond what special readers (Kindle, Kobo, ...) can even do.
I also don't want to have to hold my larger and heavier devices (from 250 g) in my hand - I set it up and leaf through it with a Bluetooth remote device.

Android devices have one disadvantage - they need more powerful hardware that uses a little more power.
This is compensated for with larger batteries, which generally makes the devices somewhat larger in terms of volume and somewhat heavier in terms of weight.

Does Boox Note 2 screen look great like a kindle in the sunlight?
I'm assuming the answer is yes since it's e-ink, but want to make sure I ask.

The answer is yes because it is eInk.
