Suggestion for list of e-book sources
Hi,
I looked for a place for feeback or suggestions, maybe this is it. I just looked for an e-book in Germany and only found it as Amazon Kindle. However, it is available as epub in a shop that is not listed in Calibre, so I suggest it to be included: Buecher.de (it is also part of the consortium for the reader Tolino). Kind regards, Distel |

Shopping for ebooks, or getting public domain ebooks is completely separate to Calibre. I do both separately and then add a copy to Calibre and keep and backup original.
You may also need DRM removal plugins if your ereader isn't compatible. I've used Calibre for many years and the only "shop" feature I use is finding alternate "covers" for ebooks already added. |

Once upon a time, Calibre has a 'Store' affiliation: Get Books (blue cover with a down arrow].
IRRC @krittikagoyal, maintains it. (Another case of whack-a-mole, keeping up with site changes) You may need to add it to your toolbar. Preferences: Toolbars. |

No one really maintains get books, it was @user_none's baby, and he left a long time ago. I fix bugs reported in individual get books sources as when I can but I dont add any new sources or do fixes that require a lot of work.

I've been looking for new book sources lately, since Amazon seems determined to run me off as a longtime customer. I've heard about ebooks.com, but when I click on that in "Get books", I get a window saying "OOPS! Your offer could not be found". I assume this is also broken. Is it possible to download ebooks.com purchases into Calibre?

I've never actually purchased from ebooks.com (yet), but from what I understand they use either DRM-free or Adobe DRM. So it should be possible.
For the latter, you'll use either Adobe Digital Editions or the ACSM Input plugin to turn the ASCM files into ePubs. You'll also want DeDRM (get NoDRM's fork; it's more up-to-date) to get rid of the DRM. |
