				Speedreading on a smartwatch

What can I put on my wrist and have it flash words one at a time for speedreading?

This is just for emergencies when I'm tempted to waste time on my phone. However, The only app I found for this is called WearReader and both iOS and Android are both really buggy, apparently. |

If it only flashes one word at a time, I don't think you'll be doing much in the way of speed reading.

It would be awkward reading for any length of time on a smart watch. I have an Apple Watch, and I love it. But reading more than a few minutes would not be a good experience. For one thing, holding your arm/wrist at the angle you'd need would be very uncomfortable.

An app called Book Shout was supposed to include an app for the Apple Watch, but I don't think it ever worked. It's been a while since I looked at it. Editing to add...I downloaded BookShout to my phone, then installed it on the watch. When you launch it on the watch, you get a message saying "Reader Coming Soon." That is the way it's been since I first downloaded it in February of 2018. So they've never released a working Watch app. Last edited by Deskisamess; 09-24-2020 at 02:16 PM. |

Thanks for the reminder about BookShout. I installed it a long time ago to see what the Watch app was like, and haven’t looked at it since. The Watch app will apparently display your reading stats (of which I have none). Time to uninstall. I still have hopes someone will deliver a reading app for Watch. Obviously using RSVP like Spritz. (Wish you could have the Watch on the inside of the wrist and have it aware of that. It would probably nix heart rate measures, but it would be better for working in close quarters as it would be more protected. And it would also be more comfortable for reading....) |

![]() It works for heart rate measures (but not the new blood oxygen measures though). Anyway as already mentioned WearReader is buggy, Apple Watch battery life is poor for an ereader etc. |
