Converting mobi to AZW after they are on Kindle?

Unfortunately discovered too late that custom fonts will only work with azw formatted books and not mobi. All the books I transferred onto my PW through USB are mobi format. Is it possible to convert these to azw with calibre while they are on the kindle or will I have to convert within my library on my PC and then transfer again to the kindle?

The latter. Can't convert the files on the device.

Understand the to the device, these are NEW books (because they are a different format).

(tedious) Make notes of your reading Location for each that have been started. You will need to open EACH new format on the device and GOTO Location (once each book has settled: Delete the Mobi off the device to avoid continuing on the wrong format)

how to move annotations between formats
