wanted 8" Android tablet

Lg finally bit the dust – actually the charging port went out and I’m not techie enough to replace it. We’ve had this kind of discussion before on here, but not lately, so I’m looking for models that can be found. That said

Looking for an approx 8” Android tablet for reading – want a decent resolution. I do NOT want eInk (much too slow for speed reading). I have ipads and don’t like the IOS, although my Ipad Mini would be perfect if it was Android. Suggestions please. Extra credit if there is one on sale for black Friday or cyber Monday lol.

WTF!!! eInk is much too slow for speed reading? How the expletive deleted fast do you read? I manage to read at a hair over 1000 WPM on an eInk reader and I've only run into a handful of people who read significantly faster than myself.

Impossible that eink is too slow for speed reading unless it's the Lego robot taking photos each time the page is turned. An old proof of concept of how daft DRM is. It's even crazier on video, yet we all pay for the HDCP on HDMI ports.

All I can tell you is that when I read on my Kobo I have to wait on each page turn - maybe just 2 seconds, but it adds up and I get frustrated. On android no waiting.

I use the Kobo outdoors and the difference in page turning is noticeable. Glad others don't have that problem, but I want a Tablet, not eInk.

Hubby gave me his 10" Lenovo he bought and decided he didn't want. I rarely use it for reading, but for the price it's a nice sturdy tablet.

I do prefer eInk for reading for multiple reasons, but I also use Moon+ Reader regularly. Just call me a multi-platform reader.

Thanks, but 10" is a bit too large for me to carry in my pocketbook. I was looking at 8" Lenovos, but they are no longer selling them on their site.

I wouldn't read off a 10"... here's an 8" @ Amazon.

I have the Nexus 7, thanks. Love it, but the size is a bit smaller than I want.

I will look at the Tab A, thanks

If it is really 2 seconds, something is wrong with your kobo.

Also, you can try initiating the page turn just before you finish reading the page since some of the lag is before the page starts changing.

I know someone who has a Galaxy Tab A that they use for reading books. I haven't tried it myself but this person has been happy with it.

Same lag with a PaperWhite. Why should I have to remember to turn the page before I finish reading it? Little things bother me when I'm reading, thus not liking my ipad mini reading software. Ah, nothing is perfect!
