how can i split a file name to auto generate author name being separated by dash in caliber for multiple files in batch. e.g. To-Kill-A-Mockingbird-Harper-Lee.. to separate Harper-Lee in author column while To-Kill-A-Mockingbird retained as book title..any tweak or plugin recommended please.

I suspect that you can't. Your sample would require your computer to be able distinguish the author name in that - separated string from the book name. You might be able to say use the last two character blocks as the author name but that falls apart as soon as an author such as Tuf-Voyaging-George-R-R-Martin.epub or Naked-in-Death-J-D-Robb.azw3 comes along.

From wanting the result placed in the author column, I suspected on import.

OTOH, two items I wonder about. One being that Amazon format and epub ebooks for the most part, have the title and author in the metadata. The second item is, AFAIR, none of the major players use a - delimited human readable filename convention (no, I don't consider Kobo's GUID lookalike filenames as human readable). This leaves me wondering where the files are being obtained or what format they would be in.
