K4 Mac or PC Kindle for PC KFX

Can anyone please tell me if this has been resolved in Calibre yet? I'm still running the old version of Kindle for PC (as explained in this forum) but I'm regularly getting reminders to upgrade to the latest version. It seems that this problem of not being able to format KFX files has been around for quite a while now. Calibre is brilliant and usually manages to fix any problems very quickly, what's the problem this time?

KFX is an undocumented file format. Add in DRM and you have quite a puzzle.

Amazon appears to be very serious about maintaining the integrity of KFX DRM, which creates the need for extra steps when converting from that format.

I doubt that will change. If anything it may become more difficult in the future if Amazon blocks the operation of older versions of Kindle for PC and Mac.

Thank you both for the information. I understand a bit better now. However, I never thought about Amazon blocking older versions of Kindle for PC. I can only hope they don't, as I really love using Calibre and would hate to have to give it up because of Amazon.
