Two Font Settings (by language)
So, the only thing I don't like about my new Kobo Libra H2O is there are no font size presets to switch between, like my old paperwhite.
I read in English and Japanese on my ereader, and I need the Japanese font size to be a lot bigger than the English font size, but would rather prefer them to be uniform between all Japanese books and all English books... Any ideas on how I can do this? I wouldn't mind if there was a number value for size, but it doesn't seem like there is (e.g. just remember I always read English at 5 and Japanese at 10) The other thing I can think of is, to install a secondary reader platform and then read Japanese exclusively on that, so that I don't have to mess the settings up. Keep the vanilla reader with my fav English settings, keep the alternate reader with Japanese. If I do this, do you have a recommended reader I can install for that purpose? Thanks in advance ![]() |

I actually did try and it seems like Kobo is remembering font size between Japanese and English, but I will have to try more - the font size went wild a second before I made the post...
But yeah, any suggestions would be wonderful!! |

Are you reading both ePub and KePub? If so, the font scale between the two is very much different with KePub being much smaller. There is a patch to bring the font scales into line with ePub so the same font size setting in ePub & KePub are the same.

You can set the font setting using my Kobo Utilities plugin in calibre. Select the books, choose the setting and update. And if someone is adventurous, it might be possible to write a database trigger to do it based on some detail in the book such as the language. Actually, a "simpler" way would be to add a font for each profile you wanted. Then use a database trigger to set the desired font settings whenever those fonts are selected. It's a horrible idea, but, it would probably work. |

I read 100% English language books and almost entirely Overdrive library books obtained by syncing, so they should all be kepubs. The font size still seems to change randomly from one book to the next. Occasionally I'll get lucky and a new book will open at the same font size as the previous book.
