Book Title inc Series Name/# ?

I had a look at Calibre wiki and not much help, so apologies if this has been asked before in the thousands of threads here...

I have Title / Author / Series as columns eg "Freedom's Fate", "Bobby Adair", "Freedom's Fire [6]"

I want the title (which shows on my Kindle) to be "Freedom's Fate (Freedom's Fire 6)", so when I am browsing on Kindle for next book to read I can find the next book in the series easily.

80% of my books are from series, 20% have no series entry (one offs) so don't need to be processed.

Thanks for any help!

Take a look at Calibre's plugboards. They're available via Preferences.

in addition to looking
I put the Series Index into the title field Before the title. IMHO the number sorted is more important ###-epic_title
Older kindles supported the Kindle Collections plugin, which is where I put the series name
(note) No special fields required. The templates in the Plugboard (or send filenames) build 'on the fly' and self maintain later use with changes KISS

Thanks for those pointers.

So as simple as change the "Sending Books to Devices" setting to "{author_sort}/{series} {title} - {authors}" ???

Series would only give you the series name. You need to add series index as well.

Something like:
Code:
{author_sort:sublist(0,1,&)}/{series:| |}{series_index:0>5.2f| | - }{title} - {author:sublist(0,1,&)}
One note is that this template is from my save to disk so for title use, the first bit "{author_sort:sublist(0,1,&)}/" can be removed.

The sublist item uses the first entry in the list which keeps the filenames/paths shorter when you are sending an anthology where all 20 authors are listed.

Using this template and J D. Robb's Golden in Death (In Death #50)

I get a directory called "Robb, J. D_" with files named "In Death 50.00 - Golden In Death - J. D. Robb" plus the file extension.

So how do you delete the empty directories?

Is that the Cleanup .opf files/folders item? If so, you've answered a question that has bothered me for a while.

that is the one. It removes them when there was no book format (EPUB only?), which happens if you used the delete book on the devices menu

What ebooks are being deleted? I was using save to disk as an example. When I was done, I right clicked on the temp directory I saved into and did a shift-delete. However that directory was not empty. Are you are referring to empty directories on my Kobo ereader?
