"Edit Book" no longer offers format choice

The edit book dialog has always functioned normally, offering a choice of either epub or azw3 that I maintain for each book in the library. Until today. After I updated a plugin (Kobo Touch Extended), selecting "Edit Book" now results in the automatic opening of the editor containing the epub, with no dialog box to select a format. The only way I can select/edit any other format now is to open the containing folder, right click on the book and "open with" calibre's editor. (currently on v4.17)

I don't know if the plugin update had anything to do with this sudden problem, or if it just a coincidence. At any rate, I no longer have the option to select a file format when clicking on "Edit book." I've closed/restarted Calibre several times as well as powered down my laptop with no effect.

How can I resolve this?

You presumably unchecked the box that says "Always ask when more than one type of book is present". You can reset it in the editor preferences under Integration with calibre

Edit: I now understand you were referring to the check in the dialog box and not the preferences setting that I must have unchecked! Duh!

BTW, is there any problem with another version of Calibre (3.48) still residing on the same computer?
