How can I move my books to another folder in KoReader?

I'm sure there's something that I'm missing. When I try to move the file that I would tap on to open the book, the file at the new location ends up missing metadata and is often not open-able.

I guess the metadata and reading progress is stored outside the actual EPUB/PDF/etc, and so I look for it by connecting my Kobo to my computer with USB.

Immediately I find that what I'm seeing on my computer, and on my Kobo, are completely different. Even though I have turned on displaying hidden folders, there are just some folders on the Kobo that aren't there on the computer. Also, my books seem to be at the root directory when viewing from the computer, even though it's clear on the Kobo that they're not.

I think I'm going insane Thank you for your time!
(Please don't hesitate to ask for demonstrations of this because I don't know if I've described it very well)

Ah, I still don't really know what's going on, but I was able to end up moving my books if I looked at which other files (on the computer end) had the same name. I ended up just moving it to a folder that I created from my computer, and I was eventually able to find it again on my Kobo.

When you connect the Kobo to your computer, the "root" folder displayed for the device is actually the /mnt/onboard/ directory on the Kobo's file system. (Devices with SD card may also have /mnt/sdcard/ or similar.)

If you move books outside the KOReader file browser, to retain the book settings and other book metadata you need to move the *.sdr folders along with the book files. (By default, they are located in the same folders as the books.) Those folders are not visible in the KOReader file browser, but will be automatically moved to the correct location if moving books within there.
