Question about LEDs on Touch Lux 3
I'm the fortunate owner of a PB615 (Russian model without WiFi) and was surprised to note that it has 8 LEDs at the top. I liked the PB615 so much, that I decided I wanted to find a PocketBook that would support WiFi and Touch Screen (so I could download books directly to it). I found a Touch Lux 3 at a good price on eBay last night and, while waiting for it to arrive, I was wondering if its lighting was the same as the PB615. It apparently is not. As far as I tell by scouring the videos and reviews, it has 5 LEDs on the bottom.
Can anyone confirm this? (Not that it really matters. The Kindle Voyage has, I believe, 5 LEDs and its screen is very evenly lit.) I'm also curious about other PocketBook LED configurations. The only other eReaders that I know of that have LEDs on top are the Nooks. At any rate, if anyone would check their PocketBook models and LED configurations and pass on that information it would be great. This is something reviewers only occasionally mention. |

Yes it has the LED stripe above the buttons. Same goes for the Touch HD, Touch HD2, Touch HD3. I didn't count the LEDs though.

Yes thats seems to be true. Having a look into the device we can see why:

The Touch Lux 3 (the heavier, 4 GB version anyhow) also has 8 LEDs, except they're on the bottom of the screen (as mentioned above). So, I think it's basically the same screen as the PB615, except (maybe) a little higher contrast (not enough testing to know for sure). Happy with that.

The 4GB TL3 has a Carta screen, TL2 a Pearl one. The mainboard is the same. The only difference is the screen and a (software) driver which controls the screen. The newer TL3 versions have a different screen and soldered internal memory instead of an internal MicroSD.
I guess the TL2 screen is very similiar to the 615 screen but has a touch layer added. |
