Series sometimes amis multiple authors
Now its available, I use "Series" a lot. However, I did noticed something odd.
I have series which are written by 2 or sometimes more authors. When I add those ebooks, Kobo (using Series List View) shows below the title, all (well, as much there will fit on a line) authors found for that series. That is very nice. However, sometimes Kobo shows just 1 author for a series, while I know there are more. Deleting those ebooks and re-adding them does not help. The only fix which seems to work is a shutdown/restart of Kobo and then the expected authors (most of the times) reappear. Has anyone seen this behavior also? |

Is this for purchased books or sideloaded books?
For purchased, the metadata comes from Kobo. If they have it wrong, then tell them and they should fix it. For sideloaded books, the device reads the author from the first dc:creator tag in the OPF. This means that if there are multiple dc:creator tags with one author per tag, only the first is read. This is the way calibre, and probably most metadate updaters work . If you use calibre, you can use a metadata plugboard to set the author in a way that the device will read. This will be to set the value of the tag as "FN LN, FN2 LN2". I use: Code:
program: raw_list('authors', ', ') |

It involves sideloaded books and calibre is involved.
An example is a series in which father & son both have written (stand alone) books. So it is per book registered in their respective OPF as: Code:
Father book 1
 Son book 2
 Code:
any format:KOBOTOUCH {authors:list_item(0,&)} After sending to KOBO ereader, I expect to see on series something like: Code:
HOT Serie J Lastname, K Lastname Code:
HOT Serie J Lastname Code:
HOT Serie J Lastname, K Lastname I figured that KOBO creates the Series info on-the-fly as it is not present in the DB, and it seems to do that after disconnection (from calibre) and after a reboot. Only the latter is more thorough (I assume) and succeeds more often. BTW: I'm using the latest FW 4.20.14622 and have seen the same issue on a KA2 with the same FW, so it is not device dependend.
