Can't connect to wikipédia in embedded window

Hi all,

I am experiencing quite an annoying issue with my kindle Basic 2 (2016).
It doesn't show wikipédia content in an embedded window anymore. It used to work fine: selecting some term(s) in the book would open an embedded window with either a dictionary, a translator or wikipédia.

Recently, the wikipédia tab stopped working and keeps showing : "An error occurred. Please try again"

(Not sure it is that recent though. I hadn't touched my kindle for a while before today)

Some additional information..

1) The reader IS connected to the internet. For that matter, the experimental browser works fine and I can use it to access wikipédia easily.

2) I spent the entire afternoon with amazon help desk from France (where I am from) and the US (where I bought the reader) and already have:
-- connected/reconnected wifi
-- Restarted the device
-- reset the device

3) I installed an old Kindle app, on my old Ipad 4 and the same problem occurs.

4) I suspected it could be something related to my modem configuration (firewall, ports, whatever) so I connected the kindle to the 4G thru my cel mobile hotspot. Same problem


I am going crazy. I really enjoy being able to have a quick wikipedia access when needed.

Someone experiencing the same issue and/or having some kind of idea what it could be?

Likely HTTPS support.
My Kindle DXG and Kindle Keyboard can connect to Amazon, but not to Wikipedia.

i am suprrised that amazon don't seem to know if that model is still supposed to connect, or if it has aged out and is now incompatible as per previous post...

whatever, if restarts and factory resets are not fixing it, its probably time to trade it in for a new model

the only way to get more useful info is if someone here with the exact same model joins the thread - either to say mine works, or to say same here.

you say the device browser can access wikipedia Ok, so its unlikely to be a wifi/network issue.

i assume that you, with amazon, have already checked that you have the latest updates for that Kindle

Thank you so much for your answers guys.

Well, I am actually really pissed off with amazon support.
I spent a whole afternoon with 4 different people (disconnected 2 times) for nothing. Just basic stuff that didn't help. Let alone the fact that I had to explain again the entire problem to every new staff member I spoke to.

I really hope I don't have to buy a new model. This one is perfect for me, and works perfectly (Aside from this particular issue of course).
But since I am going through the same issue on the Ipad app, I guess it's actually related to some kindle problem.

But Amazon really doesn't care.
One thing is for sure: next reader I buy won't be a kindle.

EDIT: Oh, and yes.. I manually updated the firmware to 5.12.5. In vain...

Well, if it's also happening with the iPad app, obviously it's not a problem with your device, it's a problem with your account. What country is your account registered in? (I don't know if that makes a difference, but it's the only thing I can think of)

It's happening on both his Kindle and in the Kindle app on his iPad, which is why I think it's something in his account.
