ISBN metadata search issue
I'm having problems searching for metadata by ISBN when there is text in the title or author fields.

I have extracted the correct ISBNs from my library. When I do a manual metadata search, the correct match to the ISBN is found in the search results, yet when I do a CTRL + D metadata search, often an incorrect match shows in review with different ISBN!

Is there a way to modify my preferences so that a (CTRL + D) metadata search will be done by ISBN first, THEN look at title/author?

The builtin metadata plugins all match on ISBN first, are you using other ones??

Hey Kovid, love your work

Just using the default metadata plugins...

I noticed the (CTRL + D) match is the second ISBN match from the manual search. Here are some screens...

I've tried it both enabled/disabled, and all sorts of combinations with the other plugins, both builtin and user-added, no difference...

removed non-ISBN IDs before search... still same incorrect result

Just pointing out that you searched with the wrong ISBN here. The ISBN I'm looking for is 9780199232765.

I think we're getting somewhere, maybe it's an Australian ISBN as it shows up on amazon.com.au, but not amazon.com?

yeah amazons websites are country specific. You wil need ot pick the country you want searched in Preferences->metadata download->customize amazon

ahhhh I see... that kinda sucks because I don't care which (English based) database version of Amazon is used, so long as the correct result is found.

Is there a work-around that doesn't involve switching the country preference, like running multiple Amazon plugins or something?

Also... why do the [CTRL+D] search results differ from the [Edit Metadata] search results? The plugin settings are the same for both search options, no?

they dont differ, bulk metadata simply picks one of the multiple results that single metadata leaves for the user to choose.

I guess there's room for improvement, but for now incorrect matches need to be manually searched and matched
