Question replacement for orig Nook Glowlight Plus?

Hi! Looking to replace my dead Glowlight+ (original 6" model). Main features I want are: 6" screen, native epub support (no Kindle), front light. Don't need sd card, waterproof/resistant would be a plus. Buttons or touchscreen ok, older used/refurb models ok too, any brand with acceptable display quality. Just wanna sideload my book files and read them, sometimes in the pool.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions! Have not looked at e-readers for some time now.

I'd suggest the Kobo Clara HD as a replacement.

I suggest giving thought to a 7" screen. And if you do think it may be a good idea, a Kobo Forma would be a great idea.

But the Clara isn't water resistant.

6" and waterproof is a fairly rare combination. I think the only current 6" waterproof model sold is the PocketBook HD 3. Maybe the PocketBook Aqua 2 is still available.

The Tolino 3 and 4 HD are fairly recent models, have flush screens and are water resistant.

But, to my eyes, the Nook Glowlight Plus has a slightly sharper screen than the Tolinos. Although the Tolino HD 4 has the warm light feature (which you the OP may or may not want).

There are quite a few used original Nook Glowlight Pluses on eBay.

Depending on how badly you need waterproofing, the Kobo Clara HD is a very nice reader. Walmart sells 'em for $120. Not waterproof though.

You could always get another Glowlight Plus. You can buy a refurb for $65 on eBay.

If you still want a Nook and don't mind non-walterproof, there's the current Glowlight 3. Barnes and Noble sells refurbs for $90.

I have all three and like them for different reasons. My most used is the Kobo. But I sure wish it was waterproof.

If you don't mind slightly larger (6.8" screen), there's the Kobo Libra. It is waterproof and has buttons and color changing light. Walmart sells the white one for $170.

Big Deals now has a few Nook Glowlight offerings. The original Glowlight (manufacturer refurbished) for $40. The 6" Glowlight Plus (manufacturer refurbished) for $66 (as linked above, but these hadn't been around for a while). Glowlight 3 (open box with 60 day warranty) at $75. The 7.8" Glowlight Plus (open box, warranty not mentioned) for $140. And the 7.8" Glowlight Plus (brand new) for $180.

https://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?_ssn...light&_sacat=0

It's a little disconcerting to see new 7.8" Glowlight Pluses, on discount, sold by a company that's usually clearing out refurbished units.
