Resetting reader position for all eBooks

I'd like to keep the "remember current page when quitting" option active, just reset the reader position for all my books.

Tried disabling it anyways, but Calibre still remembered position unless I opened the book while it was disabled.

Is there another option that I'm missing somewhere?

Thanks in advance.

Readng position is saved in tow places, in the config directory under annots and in epub files themselves. The former is easy to remove, the latter not so much.

Well, I disabled the option to keep the bookmarks and reading position stored in the ePub itself. So that should help for the future.

Thank you.

The setting is to "enable sharing".

Thanks. Found it. I knew it was doing that but hadn't realised I could turn it off.
I broke my own rule of "Always check ALL settings" on any new program or gadget!

Calibre is worse. Kovid keeps updating things

I can't count the number of times I had to (re) discover features or new settings

I made the same mistake at first. I was expecting the viewer settings to be accessible from the same place as all the other settings.

Not sure what to think of this design choice, but I speculate it may be in place for those who just use the eBook viewer separately from the rest of the library management stuff.

Yep, the viewer has always had its own preferences settings for the reason you state, same with the book-editor --- but surprisingly, to me at least, not the content server

Good point.
The content server USED to be standalone ONLY, then Kovid made a embedded(?) version.

IIRC there are also some settings in Tweaks.
Maybe, splitting out the settings file(s) is not easy as we think.

Pssst - I'm still using the version 2 server. That's why I rarely respond to server issues. And in many instances, where I would have used calibre-server in the past I now use calibre-spy.

The standalone content server has no settings file. All settings are via commandine arguments. The set of settings is the same as the GUI.

For future people: I discovered that Quality Check can find ePubs containing bookmarks, and Modify ePub plugin is able to strip them.
