Running content server on Linux and parallel Desktop client?

I'm running the content server on a Linux Server so that I can access my library from anywhere. If you run the content server you cannot run the GUI on the server as well - means only Web frontent - which is not really a good way to manage the library.

So I'm using Calibre on my PC in parallel and connect to the library on the server (just over LAN (Samba)).

Seems to work, but could this create any issue in the library (getting corrupt)?

You can run both the gui and the server on a single machine, simply start the server from within the GUI.

Sure, that works. However it's a headless server, means I need to connect via remote desktop and need to copy the files first to the server before I can add them. By using my PC instead I avoid both.

If you have two instances of calibre such as the server and the gui making changes to the same library you will get data loss. so if you want to do this, you have to make sure you run only one at a time, and sync your changes before starting either.
