Collections in kobo clara

I manage my ebooks in calibre.
I added an extra field 'collection'.
I could use this field in my old kobo touch.
Now I have the kobo Clara HD.
I transferred my books to the Clara.
However...although the books are and authors are now present in the kobo Clara, the collections are empty.
I did not do anything different as I did using the kobo touch.

When you have your Clara HD connected and open Configure this Device from the device dropdown menu, what you see on the second tab (Collections, covers and uploads)? Is the Collections check box checked? Is your custom collections column in the Collections columns box? Is Create Collections check box checked?

After you send the books to your Clara HD, did you eject it and then reconnect it so the metadata could be updated? The first connection sends the books which your Clara HD will import after the safely eject. This places the ebooks into the database so the entries can be updated on the second connection.

Those checks were there, but afterwards.
I'll reconnect again and see what happens.
Thx!

Could you post a screen cap of your device configuration and the custom column you are using for collections. You should be able to see it under Add your own columns in calibre's preferences. You might also check your custom column lookup name (should start with a #) as use in the device configuration.

A couple of other items would be to check the Sending books to device preference to see if the Metadata managment is set to Automatic management and in the device configuration on the third tab if Update metadata on the device is checked along with the other checkboxes in that set.

I can't work out from these two if the options were selected or not when you looked. But, if you made a change, did you restart calibre before connecting the device?

The metadata management option is the most likely reason at the moment. The Update metadata options in the driver have no impact on the collection management.

@SSQ: If the metadata management option is set to automatic and the collections are still not being created, run calibre in debug mode, connect the device and post the debug log. I can usually see what is wrong from that.

Before getting too upset, you might ask yourself why I thought of that possiblity in my earlier response. A real Doh! moment.

I have no idea what you are talking about. There is no way that anyone would make that mistake.

At least, not more than a couple of dozen times.
