PW2 Paperwhite 2 Battery Problems

Hello
Since i updatet the FW to 5.11.1.1 later to 5.12.2 on my Paperwhite 2 (B0D4) i have problems with my Battery and would like to ask if others also have this problem. With a full charge i get less than 6hours of runtime. I have activated the Airplane Mode and Brightness is set to 14. With the old FW i had to charge maybe once a week. Now i have to charge 3-4 times a week (it is ridiculous). If possible i would like to downgrade to a older FW but to my knowladge this is not possible (please correct me if i am wrong).

I forget to add that indexing is done. When searching for a random string "Text in Books" is greyed out. The battery draining happens only when tha PW is on.

What was the "prior firmware version"?
(some versions spend a lot of time "calling home")

Any changes to your Wifi usage?
Such as Special Offers or adopting the use of Amazon site collections?

Is this device Jail Broken (from this site)?
If so, are you using the KUAL menu entry to "block updates"?
(which does reduce the "calling home" behavior)

Same here - two Paperwhites 2, both have miserable battery life since updating to "final" 5.12.2 FW. Someone who actually speaks english, should file official complaint! Planned obsolescence at it's best. No JB or hacks of any kind, factory reset, WiFi and light always off, 5 books only, no book stuck indexing...

I do not remember what FW was running on my PW before i updated. But the only thing that changed is the FW. I always sideload my books (Airplane Mode is always on and my device was not connected to any WIFI network for the last 3 years). And it is not Jail Broken.
If i find the time i will do some testing this week. My Mothers PW (the same as mine and bought at the same time) is still running on old FW. I will charge both devices up to 100% then read on both devices for 2 hours and measure the battery consumption. Then switch the batterys and do the same test. This way i can make sure it is not the battery. I do not expect the battery but want to be 100% sure.
I didn´t want to sound paranoid but it looks like Planned obsolescence.

So it took me way more time than i expected but live was busy and i did not had time to read a lot. But i loaded the same 2 books on my moms and my reader, charged them both to 100% and started to read. Both reader side by side (same brightness and setup). When my reader was down to 2% my moms reader was (running FW5.8.9.2 is not giving me battery %) at ~80%.
1. Changing the battery did not have any real affect on the runtime (i gained maybe 30min because the battery from my moms reader is hardly used).
2. I removed all books from my reader and reuploaded only 2 books. But that did not help either.
3. Then i connected the reader to my PC and deleted all the files that i could delete. Then i had to punch in all my personal info again and setup the reader completly. I only uploaded a handfull of books (insted of the few hundret books i usually have on my paperwhite, charged it up to 100% and waited untill indexing was done). And that fixed it more or less.
The runtime is still a bit worse than on my moms reader running on the older FW but now i do not have to charge the reader every 4-5h.

To bad that it is not possible to go back to a older FW. But for now i am happy that i can use my reader again with reasonable runtime.
