Companion to auto fetch news ?
Hello,
I use Calibre on my Windows 10 Computer to fetch news every Friday.
It then sends it to my Kindle account, I get the news on my Kindle (and on my phone through the Kindle App).

I could schedule Calibre but computer needs to be switched on. So every Friday, I have to run Calibre and press fetch news.

I have an old smartphone, broken screen, but I can still use it.
Could I install Calibre Companion on it and let it download the news auto every Friday ? Or is there any web server based solution to do the job (I don't own a server and don't want to buy one) ?

...Or is there any web service app or server that could simply send the Economist directly on my Kindle account for free ? Searched for this few years ago but it was not free. Thanks !

CC cannot do that, but most android news apps have an option to download stories overnight or as scheduled, for later reading.
some may require a subscription, i doubt the Economist gives away its material for free.


NB calibre is not a workaround for not paying, it cannot break through news paywalls for you

Also note. As the name implies: Calibre Companion is not a substitute for a running Calibre.

Would the Reading List Plugin auto-push new News downloads to the device upon a WDC (no user at PC)?

OPs wants to not have to switch on his calibre PC. That's a showstopper for any calibre solution.
Wanting a free service from the Economist is also a showstopper?
