New to the forum AND e-readers

Hi all. I've never had a use for an ebook reader until recently. I'm in the Army and will soon deploy to another country. Since I'm an avid reader and can't haul an entire library with me overseas, I think the e-reader would be a great investment.

I've checked out the Kindle and didn't even realize there were other e-readers out there. Thankfully, I stumbled across a blog that led me to this forum, where I'm hoping to get some guidance in which device to choose.

Once I deploy, I don't know when or how often I'll be able to have Internet access, so whichever e-reader I get will have to be able to store a lot of files to tide me over 'til the next time I can download new stuff! lol

I'm going to browse through other posts, but any suggestions are most welcome in the meantime Thank you in advance!

Personally, I would say stick with the Kindle. You can put a 2GB SD card in it and hold several thousand ebooks. Also, the search on the Kindle makes it easier to locate a book rather than going page-by-page through the library.

Hi JavaJunkie and welcome to the Forum. I have a Sony 505 and like the Kindle, you can add an SD card and increase the number of books it holds enormously. Don't think you can wrong with either a Sony or Kindle

And if you go to ebay right now, you can get a Kindle for only $1995 with free shipping!

God bless you and stay safe.

Unfortunately, Amazon lists the Kindle as sold out with an 11-13 week backlog.
